Hi Looking for a 1 bedroom tent that could sleep two adults and two children comfortably and be easy to put up for weekends. Must be fly first and hopefully decent head height as dad is 6ft 3in.

Shortlist so far Vango Idaho 500 which seems to be available for around £100. Bit concerned HH is only 2,000. Is this a problem. Anyone any experience of this.

ALso like the look of the Gelert Tornado DLX but not sure if this has a SIG which i think i want.

And finally there is the Khyam Amazon Deluxe - but not sure if this is too big for one adult to pitch comfortably.

Any advice based on personal experience would be really welcome.

Thank you

Hi

Late addition - Outdoor Revolution VRX 500S - looks nice and airy and like the shape but don't know anything about the brand, quality and reliability.

Hi there, my wyynster mallard only has a hh of 2000 but i know people on here have said that thier tents with the same hh have withstood some torrential downpours. I think they say anything over 1500 is fine for the british weather.

The Khyam ridgidome xl is very easy to put up, a bit expensive but can pick them up second hand. We used to have the xxl se and i could easily put that up on my own (5ft 2" female) Or can get a factory second ( but have read mixed reports about the company that is supplying the one below, i have never used them myself)

Khyam XL Classic (Factory Seconds)

Thank you jaynkate and phil and ruth for your posts.

Does the wynnster mallard have a SIG and one or two bedrooms and is it fly first pitching?

I am off tomorrow to look at a idaho 600 pitched locally but am a bit worried that silence on that tent and the others is not good news.

Am I missing a better tent? Budget really only up to £180 max so although the khyam xl classic look great can't stretch to new and bit worried about the mixed reports you refer to.

Thanks again to you both. Will keep searching

Hi

I have an Outdoor revolution VRX Scenic 4.2 and I wouldn't swap it for the world as a weekender.  Plenty of bedroom space for the 3 of us plus dog, and the living space is huge and airy!  i'd never heard of Outdoor Revolution brand either but when we saw this tent we fell in love with it and it ticked all our boxes - so I have no problems with the make.

Only thing I would suggest is if you do go for an outdoor revolution - buy another pair of storm straps it makes getting the tent up far easier that trying to pull the guyropes IMO!

Hi

Saw the OUtdoor Revolution VRX scenic today and it does have a lovely airy feel to it but has two bedrooms so unfortunately no good.

Had a look at teh Wynnster mallard 4 - which looked a bit tight for airbeds - but six not on display - if anyone knows anywhere within an hour of portsmouth to view I would be grateful.

ANd Kate do you find your mallard dark - the guy at teh wyevale tent display at chichester was saying they were very dark if it rained as you had to close the windows.

Thanks to all for help.
