We are considering the Aspen 500 as we like the straight sides and loads of room but need some advice regarding bedroom configuration please. Our local display has one up but we cannot get into the bedrooms as he has them locked due to pesky kids getting in and wrecking them !! Anyway what we need to know is - can the partition on the right as you look at it be removed or rolled back completely to allow us to use one massive space and one smaller one on the left? Our smallest boy likes to be able to crawl over and snuggle up to his mum and is not yet ready for his own room but we like the idea of him having his own room soon. While I am here am looking at 500 versus 500DLX. As I understand it the only difference is the longer porch on the DLX. We quite fancy the flexibility of getting a 500 and then adding a canopy. Any thoughts or advice would be very welcome. Cheers,
Bev

Hi, we have the 700DLX, the main bedroom is separated from the room on the right by a dividing curtain and yes this can be full rolled back to make a larger space. The difference between the standard aspens and the DLX (deluxe) versions is only the extended porch - be careful if you choose to use a canopy as well due to the overall length of the tent + canopy as some sites have restrictions on pitch sizes, we haven't encountered this problem yet with our 700 but have been reading quite a few posts lately where people with larger tents are encountering problems with bookings - probably more of an issue during peak periods....the aspen is a brilliant choice - it really is a fab tent. pitching takes a little while but once it's up it's well worth it - take a look at vango's website for pitching video and instructions
Made our choice, managed to pick up an Aspen 500 for just £270, so well pleased with that. Was really shocked with the weight of the poles when we collected it and hope its not too heavy for us to manage putting it up. Will look at the video but any tips or hints to make things easier would be much appreciated. Going to take it for a test drive next weekend with OH but would ideally like to be able to put it up with 10 year old son and no OH as often he doesnt come with us.
can anyone help me I went camping once this year the tent was fine but had lot off rain come in under the tent should i have left a space between the tent and ground sheet thanks tracy

Hi Tracey; there is always a gap between the outer tent and the ground (guess this is what you mean). If your tent has a sown in groundsheet (SIG) it shouldn't cause a problem. If not, high winds can blow rain under the outer and into the inner tent. When you pitch try to get the outer at an equal distance from the ground all around.
Kimbob; totally agree with the Bundys - the Aspen (500 or 700 DLX or otherwise) is a great tent. Enjoy and have fun.
