Those of you recommending the Diablo - how have you got on finding pitches for it? I thought the feedback from "big" tent owners was that it was becoming increasingly difficult to find pitches.
At not much smaller than 9m x 9m without guys the 900 is about as big as it gets and that's close to being bigger than many pitches let alone factoring in your car and a firebreak.
Perhaps you guys could make sure you post the details of the sites you've found on the "big tents" threads in the UK camping section?

the actual measurements of the 900xp are 8.1m x 8.0m without guides, we pitched it at the weekend on a 9m x 15 m pitch and the guides were still with in the pitch, the 15m gave us a place to put the car, but i couldn`t get the van on unless i moved the tent over to the edge of the pitch, and i wasn`t gonna do that....lol. by the way it was at kelling heath in norfolk.

Not wanting to be the "negative" one but we have a 2005 diablo 90 and are changing it for either an aspen 700 dlx or a Vermont xl...
We find the dome shape of the diablo looses loads of space around the edge, where you would stand tall things up(ie Cuboards)
And having one of the main poles snap in cornwall last year in heavy rain(When we rang vango to ask for the nearest dealers address to go buy one , they told us we had to go back to where we bought it......... Towsure in Sheffield!! )
So metal poles is another reason for a new tent!!

Thanks for the tip on the Huthwait camp shop! It`s been interesting reading all the other comments good and bad. Our camping trip has arrived (tomorrow!) and we still have no tent of our own! in fact the only camping gear we do have are air beds and camp chairs!! BUT we`re still going (despite the bad weather forcast!) in my mum and dads new diablo 600. Would have brought one by now except we`ve had a few more things to distract us. Might not turn out to be a bad thing though as we could use the occasion as one very big camp show and a try before you buy experience. My biggest worry is the lack of campsites with big enough pitches. Well we`ll have to see how next week goes any way!
We have just got back from our first trip away with our brand new Diablo 900xp. It was no problem to put up and no problem to take down even though it was raining. Ray my husband isnt an experienced camper and I had made him watch the dvd that came with the tent about four times and we were fine and no arguements! We had taken a big tarpaulin to put under the tent but didnt actually use it so that was clean and great to fold the tent on in the rain. We were warm, dry and cosy! Here is a pic of hubby Ray filling my glass
We put it up in the back garden to dry when we got home which was a bit of a tight squeeze but it dried in no time. We camped at Brighouse Bay and had no problem with pitch size. Ours is the blue one and there was the black one pitched behind ours which made me wish we had that colour as it looked nice and cozy inside!
i have found a few sites around norfolk that take large tents by ringing first and asking, so far the sites ive been to have been ok, off to deer glade in acouple of weeks and that sounds good, oh and im well happy with the 900xp
have a good time

im glad someone else has said how cosy these tents are, we just had another weekend away in ours, i shopped around and looked at the blue one and wasn`t happy with the colours, so i got the blck/grey one, it was the nearest i could find to NUFC colours.lol.
the orange inside does make it feel cosy, i also purchased the outwell harford xl carpet with gives it the extra comfy feeling, if i knew how to post pictures i would.
pitching it is easy and i didnt look at the dvd, and my son is 13 and he knew what he was doing as well.

Haydn my husband is a Newcastle fan so we would have had a black and white one if there had been any local I should also add that Ray is 6'6" and he had no problems with it and could stand upright in the middle. We just used the waterproof backed blankets on the floor but will get a carpet for next year.
