Well after years of trying my husband & kids have convinced me my life is missing something as we do not camp..(picked a good year weather wise huh!!)
My husband is a 6ft 4 so one of those small tents are out of the question, we have seen the Outwell Indiana 8 and the Royal Bordeaux 6, both seem adequate but which one? Also Zg or SG if we choose the Royal one?
Any advise at all on these (or alternatives) would be fantastic as we are completely new to this.
Many thanks in advance to all you experienced campers!!

I can't comment on the Royal tent other than my friend has a couple of Royal tents and is very pleased with them, they are a good brand.
I've looked around the Indiana quite a lot and its next on my shopping lists of tents when I stop buying canvas tents.
It's a very nice light and spacious tent, it seems well designed and well ventilated. My OH is 6ft 2 and he was more than happy with the headroom in it.
Groundsheet wise it has a bathtub groundsheet, so a loose groundsheet that toggles in about six inches up the side of the tent. To me its the best of both worlds, a separate groundsheet that you can take off and hose down but toggled in to reduce any chances of drafts etc.
I've not pitched one and there is some feedback that the heavy poles make these tents a little tricky to pitch but nothing significant once you've got the hang of them.
The Indiana doesn't seem to have suffered any of the leaking problems that some Outwells have suffered in 2006/2007. It looks to me to be a lovely tent.
hi dmfogg we have got the Royal Bordeaux 6. It looks fantastic. Weve only just bought it so not tryed it out yet. We seen one pitched at Tamworthcamping and loved it straight away. We are a family of 2 adults and 2 children. Its got loads of living space too with an extra side annexe for storage. Would definitely recommend one.
Well one vote each so far!! Thanks for the info as you all have researched this more than me...I knew nothing about outwell leakages - like you said though hopefully not the Indiana.

I've just had a look at the Bordeaux and its a nice looking tent.
It looks from the diagram of the Bordeaux that it has three separate sleeping inners which show two people in each. The two outer ones are 140cm and the middle one is 120cm. Even 140cm is tight for two people to sleep with their kit - I'm not sure if you could get an airbed in that. It's probably worth checking what you sleep on and how you would sleep.
The Indi has one big sleeping area at the back that I imagine divides into two reasonable sized rooms and then the extra bit in the front if you need it.
You don't say how old your kids are or how you want to sleep - it might be worth looking at the configuration of both to see how they work for you.
Hi, we have a bordeaux 6, took it our for the first time this weekend and first time campers too.
All I can say I loved it, loads of living space, no problem with fitting double airbeds in the bedrooms and still had space especially in the middle bedroom which was bigger than the two outer ones. The canopy on the front is great especially when it was raining to still cook under. Zipped in ground sheet was great as well, just unzipped then cleaned it down. Has loads on handly little pockets inside to store stuff in.
Recommended if you want space a real home from home I would say.

We have had the Indiana for 18 months or more and found it to be a great tent, the bathtub reduces draughts but is easy to remove to clean. The bathtub is also handy in hot westher (though not seen any this year!!) as you can tie up the storm flpas to create more air through. The windows and space are great, you can easlily fit two single airbeds in one of the three birth pods with room between for storage. We use the the other half for our third child, food storgage and the dog and sleep in the extra two berth bit which just fits a double airbed with a bit of room at the head of the bed for storage. The vents are very good and the windows mean even in the worst weather you are not in danger of feeling enclosed or tripping over each other. The canopy is great for cooking under and fits our cooker stand perfectly. You can unzip between the back bedrooms to make one large room if you prefer.
