Hi, I am looking for my first tent for myself and my partner to go away for weekends and longer breaks. We are looking for something with 2 bedrooms, living area and stand up height preferable just the living area. We have a budget of around £100. I had originally liked the Easy Camp Milano 500 but then I noticed it has a detachable groundsheet. I would prefer a SIG to stop the bugs and draughts getting in. Then I found the Vango Idaho 400 but that has a divide curtain to separate the bedroom and I am not sure on that idea. Does anyone have any advice on what tent would be best. Any advice would be most appreciated. Thanks

Hi there

Welcome to UKCS - hope you have many happy years camping!  If you are looking for a good tent with the above features, try the Outdoor Megastore, they have Outwell Hartford/Oregon range that are sort of in your price range, but for quality I'd highly recommend them.  Got a larger Outwell and no problems with them, very good build, you can stand up in living area and come with sig.

Good luck!

Welcome to the site.

One bit of advice is dont do what i did skimp on price, It costs you more in the end,,,I learnt the hard way. I'd save and get a good tent the first time, I have now had 3 tents and finally got a good one that meets my needs.

Check out the Hydrostatic Head of any tent you look at, go for min of 2000mm, id say, I had a 1500mm and it started to drip, drip, drip.....

That will be to seperate the bedroom into 2. You'll be able to roll it out of the way to have one big bedroom. Vango has a good reputation, and this tent has had some good reviews.

Thanks for all your comments. I am reluctant to buy a tent from the internet without looking at it up. Does anyone know anywhere in Scotland that has a selection of tents up? I'm from Dunfermline so been to Outriggers but they were all too big. Thanks for your help.

Phew! That's a tall order. We have quite a few Scottish members on this forum, but I think even they've said in the past that the camping shops up there are few & far between

Anyway, welcome to the forum and I've bumped your post up to the top again, so hopefully one of our Scottish members will be able to advise you tomorrow

Thanks for everyones advice it has been very helpful. We have been looking at tents today and there are two different types we like but can't decide as we have been unable to see them pitched. They are the Vango Idaho 400 or 500 and the Coleman Columbus 4.  Does anyone own any of these tents or have any views on them please?
