Hi Haggis & welcome to the forum
Have a look on ebay for a canvas frame tent. Not so many on there now, but still a few bargains to be had.
It really doesn't matter if you buy a frame tent which is ten years old or more, as canvas tents can last up to 30 years. A frame tent is certainly the right way to go for all year round camping - we always feel safe & secure in ours even in high winds and heavy rain. Our Cabanon Elody has been through two thunder storms without any leaks or problems. Go for it Haggis
