Hi, Can anyone tell me how to erect the Coleman Weathermaster Plus alone? Having puchased the tent new some 2 years ago it has done nothing more than sit and gather dust, it has not even been out of the bag yet because I fear I will be unable to erect the tent without assistance, because of its size
Have contacted Coleman but they tell me it requires 2 people.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
It is easier to erect this tent with the doors open if you are doing it solo. It will be packed with them closed so try and get someone to help you the first time. YOu will need help to lift the centre poles then you can do the rest yourself. Roll the doors open before packing away. The bedroom inner tents should be attached already, leave them there, it is less work to do when erecting the tent and doesn't make it much heavier.
Second and subsequent erections will be much easier and is possible to do alone:
Peg out the sewn-in-groundsheet using the large pegs in the main pegging points. Feed the 4 roof poles through. Attach the legs to the 2 centre roof poles, then lift each one a little at a time, digging the spike into the earth to hold it in place, taking a short cut through the open doors to get to the other side of the tent. I also push the roof poles up from the inside of the tent. Eventually you will be able to insert the 4 spikes into the holes on the webbing straps on the flysheet. Then attach the legs to the 2 end roof poles and insert the spikes into the holes as above.
The tent is now standing, all that is left to do is to click the C-clips onto the poles, peg out the guyropes and the smaller pegging points and tension the rain-fly by winding the elastics round the pole and clipping into place.
It is a lot easier than it sounds. Practice at home before you go camping.
