Hi all,

thinking about a new tent for me and the good lady, we have a light 2-man for backpacking which is just the job when travelling around. the good lady is after a bit more room though for when we go with a car. What i am after is probably 4-5 man with room to stand up (me would be nice being 6'4"). would prefer a dome style and sig. bedroom wise it would be good to have a good size bedroom for 2 and somwhere separate to keep bags and clothes. Budget is flexible, up to say 250 for the right tent, do want something which we can keep for a few years.

a couple i have found so far are the Wynnster Phoenix 4 and the Vango Idaho 500. quite differing prices..

all help appreciated.

thanks,

Jon

I was going to suggest the Wynnster Phoenix.  We've got the Pegasus 6 which is last years with no SIG but other than that they are pretty similar.  I'd definitely recommend it.

If you're a generally lightweight, outdoorsy no fuss camper why not do different and go for something like a Vaude Opera or Sly Fox ?http://www.outdoorgb.com/c/4_person_tents/

I also like the Wild Country Venturi 4 a lot, have seen one up at a show and it was impressive with lots of features and a very good quality feel, but its over your budget.

Okay, I know it's not a dome, and doesn't have a SIG, but the Cabanon Atlantic is a lightweight, one bag canvas tent which would certainly last you for a good few years (around 20 ish, if you look after it).

Lightweight alloy frame, super-quick to pitch (and easily done by one person), good standing height and excellent bedroom inner for 2 people.....

Look here!

(Pics and spec here.)

It's an ideal touring tent for two, and will provide solid and comfortable accommodation, whatever the climate.

Best of luck, whatever you decide!

I know the Guadeloupe is over-budget, but it might be around at a better price than this and is another fab, quick-pitch tent.
