Hi wondered if you could help me with a query on this tent.
We bought the XL from a camping supplier on ebay a few weeks ago for £300 which was £70 cheeper than we had seen elsewhere. We put the tent up for the first time over the weekend. What we didnt realise when we bought the tent were the openings in the groundsheet where the sleeping compartments are pegged down. We viewed the Galileo L at Mitchells at horbury a few months ago and didnt notice these openings. I am wondering if coleman have changed the design slightly and we have the old design or are all Galileos like this and we just missed it when we viewed. The XL has an extra six of these openings popping up in the tent which is a bit annoying when trying to walk around the tent. What with the posts about the fault in the rooflight, I am a bit worried about bugs and rain coming in through these openings. Are all Galileo XL's the same?
Thanks

Hi - just posted so that I can keep a check on the replies as I am currently awaiting delivery of this tent and am interested in the comments which will hopefully come and be positive. Have to say that I noticed these in the one we saw up and didn't think that they would interfere with walking round the tent as they are at the bottom of the pods BUT might have missed the others which would get in the way.
As far as I am aware, these are on all 2007 models.
I have a 2007 L and have definitely got these at both ends along the middle.
They are on ties though so they can be virtually totally closed which should keep out the big bugs, plus if you fold them back under the SIG then they should be flat so to avoid any tripping and keep out any rain/ moisture.
Thanks for the replies everyone. It really is a fantastic big tent - i'll just have to push them under the sig & hope that we havent got one with the faulty rooflight! Hoping to have a trip next weekend weather permitting so i'll let you know how we get on.
We've got the Galileo L and noticed these openings before buying. The salesmen said that they were for fixing the bedrooms to. There is one at the back of ours which we peg the bedrooms down to and then pull the toggle bit tight and there is one in the middle of the tent. This is because the other end can accommodate an extra bedroom (bought separately) and it fixes to this. We haven't had any problems with bugs - just toggle it tight to the bottom.
