Hello, our friends have a Diablo 600 and we would like to stay on a camping and caravanning site. We need to book pretty speedily and don't have immediate room to get the tent out and measure it! Does anyone know please if it is small enough to be accepted in the size limit which I think is 5m.

I have looked it up online but can't find a picture giving the overall width, I'm thinking someone who has one will know if they are able to stay at a CCC site or not.

Many thanks,

Kirsty

I would seriously doubt that the 600 can be contained within 5m. The 900 which I have is 8.5m x8.5m fully guyed and while the 600 may be slightly smaller it wont be that much.

Your looking at a pitch of about 7m x 8m for the 600. I think you might struggle to get a pitch at a CCC site during peek times, seems a new rule has been introduced this year. I'd ring the site directly and see if they are OK with it.

Looking at the picture on this link it must be at least 8m wide, so I would say its well over the 5m limit. It 4m across the middle and each room is 2m

Hope that helps...

I asked the C&CC site at Chertsey when we were booking and still thinking about getting a 600.  Catagorically its on their "too big" list.

We recently asked the C&CC site about pitch sizes at the Forestry Commision sites in the New Forest that they now run, and were told two different answers on two different phone calls. First one was that the pitches were 7x5m and you just had to fit into that. Then they told us that anything more than a 6 man tent would need two pitches.

Make of that what you will. Personally, i'm working off the size limit as my Coleman Columbus 8 is only 6x3.5m but (theoretically) can take 8 people.

Like some others have commented, I think sites are beginning to make mental notes of the common big tents and the Vango Diablo's seem to be one of them.

Some of the C&CC sites actually have written lists.  The one of Chertsey aksed if he could go and check the list when I rang them.  Problem solved, We're only taking the VV 500.
