Having done a little research as a first time camper I now have a little idea of my requirements - visited this site previously but a bit vague!

If anyone can suggest a good quality tent for 2 adults and 2 children (weekend use only) with following criteria I would be grateful

Easy to put up if wife and kids go alone

Large living area and standing room for 6ft 2" hubby

2 bedrooms - 2 doubles but 1 large enough for wife and 2 kids

Removable groundsheet in living area - is this a good idea most say yes

Up to £300

The Outwell Oregon 5 may well suit you.  They usually retail at around £160 although I have seen them as cheap as £140 on the internet.  There is a very good display at the Hollybush Garden Centre at the moment (J11 M6).  It's worth a visit if it's close enough and is on until 22 July.

Hope that helps.

Thanks

Looks good but perhaps I could do with a slightly larger one if my budget allows this. Any other ideas?? Looked at Khyam Havard deluxe and Yale in a local show room - liked these layouts ie. 2 x 3 berths (ideal for 1 adult and 1 child in each when needed.) Is there a divider between the 2 and 3 inner in the oregon? My problem is not many show rooms around to see a good variety on display. Love all the oregon features though.

We have an Aztec Galeria 6 that we have just been away with for the first time this weekend. I managed to put it up myself, with a little help from my 5 year old. It is a 4 pole tunnel tent, can be either 1,2 or 3 bedroom depending on how you hang the dividers in the bedroom. Was plenty spacious enough for 4 of us (OH is 6'2") and survived wind and rain v well. It rrps at 350 (not that anybody ever seems to pay rrp for a tent!), but I got it for 239. As Aztec have only been around 10 years not as many peopole have them as other makes, but those who do seem to rate them and I am pleased with my choice.
