Hi, can any one help me please. I have just had to return my Royal Tulsa 8 for a refund as it has been damaged beyond repair. Loved the space and the shape, but my son has now decided he wants a bedroom of his own rather than sharing with his younger sister. So I am looking for a replacement with 3 bedrooms. I have seen the Kyham Ontario 8 which seems like a similar layout with bedrooms either end of a living space, but have also come acroos the Outwell Indiana 8 and the Hartford XL. Both of these seem like a very practical layout and I particularly like the canopay on the Indiana, but I am concerned about the  comments regarding  leaking Outwell tents on this site. Does anybody have any feedback they can let me have please, or any other suggestions for a 3 bed tent. 2 bedrooms needn't be particularly large as long as they will fit a single blow up matress, the third needs to fit 2 single camp beds. Are outwells worth the extra money?

Thanks for your  help.

Hi Jans, Thank you for that. How have you found it in windy conditions?  We had the Royal at a site in Devon a couple of weeks ago and had all sorts of problems. It was being blown flat to the ground and the door zips were being forced open. Hence the damage and the need to replace it. The Outwell tents seem a bit more robust to me. What do you think?

We have a Khyam Nebraska Deluxe. It has three seperate pods. It is claimed that it'll sleep nine, but I guess that means 3 per pod on the ground. We use each pod for 2 on blow up mattresses. Great indoor space just in case it rains. Landman

HI there

I have the Khyam Ontario 6 - good space and 3 beds - got it for grown up family - me, daughter and husband, son and girlfriend. I really liked he layout of inners - one 3, one 2 and a single.

Hi Elaine, thanks for the reply.  Can I ask you the same quesion I asked earlier. How does it do in windy conditions? The kids were really scared in the Royal when we had a windy evening, it seemed to bend all over the place. I am thinking of going for some thing with steel poles for that reason.

It is fine in windy conditions, i use 10 delta pegs which hold it well....they are very rebust and the steel pole tents are quite heavy beasts.

Hi,

Our tent (wild country halo 73) has steel poles for the central living area and yes, its extremely heavy! However, I'd vouch for it in strong wind and torrential rain as we've used it since February with no problems. If weight is a problem, then steer clear but I can understand your concern about kids being scared. Wild country are part of terra nova who manufacture mountaineering tents, so this gives some confidence and there's a terra nova/ wild country thread on here which can give you some info.

Thanks every one for all your help. I have decided to go for the Outwell Indiana 8 (I think) Only problem is I can't find any where locally with one on display. My local dealer tells me they are a discontinued line. I live in Derbyshire between Burton on Trent and Derby. Any Ideas?

hi, our hartfordxl has never leaked, even in a storm, and it was also the most secure and robust tent i have ever been in, even in said storm. it has something like 26 guys holding it down.

Nors - I've only seen one Indiana on display this year and that was in Devon. Retailers are favouring the Vermonts this year.

We've bought a tent unseen today and am hoping we've made the right decision. If you've been able to see the Montana and Vermont, you'll get a feel for the Indiana (minus the SIG of course). We looked at this tent and Total Camping had it at the best price
