We have pitched between showers, ground is wet but we seem to do it faster then lol. We put a groundsheet under our tent, keeps the SIG clean and dry.Unfortunately we have often taken the tent down in showers as well, just got to make sure to dry out completely when we get home.
Definitely get a cheap tarpaulin to put under your tent, don't worry about cutting it to size, just tuck the excess under making sure it's just short of the tent walls.
Wear flip flops or wellies (not trainers as they take ages to dry), shorts & pak-a-mac with hood if it's raining when you pitch, so you haven't got loads of wet clothes to dry in the tent.
Be sure to pack the tent last in the car, so you don't have to get everything else out & get it wet. If it is actually raining when you pitch the tent, back the car up to the door of the tent so your equipment doesn't get wet.
Remember not to walk into the bedroom pod with your wet flip flops on!
Then open a bottle of wine, or put the kettle on for a brew

Hi grunty, try not to take much notice of the weather, we went last week to the IOW and they said sunshine and showers all week, we had two mornings of scattered showers all week, the rest was beautiful sunshine, tempertures of around 27 degrees, got lovely tan and burnt nose! (twice!!!!) Just try and enjoy whatever the weather.

The problem is that the rain we get these days is rarely light or steady, it is torrential. That means that if the tent goes up inner-first then keeping the inside dry is virtually impossible.
I have a few tents, some inner-first, some fly first. As the weather has changed, I have found myself using inner-first tents less and less. However, if I have been caught out, I find that I can usually keep the inner reasonably dry by pegging one end of the flysheet down (to stop it blowing away!) and then getting underneath it to erect the inner. Of course, I am talking about backpacking tents here, I wouldn't like to try erecting a Diablo or similar this way!
