I haven't any experience of this tent but the spec on their website looks OK. The price is good from tesco. It's protex 2000 so it should stand up to the rain Ok.It could be unkindly called a budget tent but only by camping snobs and if it has the space and spec you want then go for it. Sometimes you just got to walk your own path and take the chance. My gut feel is it will be fine. It's a seriously big tent so check you and your family can errect it OK. Then enjoy it.
Mike32 i have the Arapaho 6DLX version and have had no problems with it.went to north devon at whitsun in all that bad weather and the tent faired very well when other better make tents fell apart.you will find Lichfield are part of the vango group so i would have no hesitation in buying any of the lichfield range.
Well spotted campermark. Protex 2000 is Vango's brand name for their polyester. I didn't spot that and didn't put two and two as well as you did. If they are using Vango materials then they are probably using Vango factory and Vango poles etc.
So I looked on Vango and Lichfields sites and what you got in the Appalachian 9 is the Vango Killington 900. Identical design, The Killington uses protex 5000 the Lichfield Protex 2000 same poles and within 5cm the same size. The Arapaho 6DLX is quite clearly the Vango Voyager 6DLX. This time the measurements, materials and weight are exactly the same. (The Voyager is chosen by blacks as their Vango offering but I bet Blacks wouldn't give Lichfield house room yet it's the same tent.).
These Lichfields must be the best value around taking their pedigree into consideration.!!
Hope I haven't annoyed any Vango owners the above is an opinion only and not based on precise knowledge just website specifications and my assumptions.

Spot on with your comments above. Lichfield/vango are part of the AMG group Ltd. so as you commented Lichfield are the best value tents around pound for pound.

Lichfield made good quality tents long before Vango and many the other companies started up.
We have the Lichfield Arapaho 9 DLX, and have been really pleased with it. It feels like a solidly made tent on the whole, and stands a bit of whether well.
When we were camping the other weekend with two friends, one with a Diablo 600, the other with a Quechue 6.2 regular, it weas out tent we retreated to when it got cold - all very practical. Copmpared to the Vango Diablo it seemed very much on a par on build quality.
Cheers
Steve
