hi everyone,

I am new to camping and want to but a tent, i almost bought a RAGE bergen off ebay but saw all the comments, so now im very wary.  Can anyone recommend what the best brands of tents i should consider.

I want to keep my budget fairly low, there are two of us but want some space and a living area.  So thinking of a four berth tent, in case friends come.

Any recommendations on brands?

good idea about getting a 4 berth or maybe slightly bigger.

If you give a little bit more info of what your needs are ie: bedrooms SIG etc and your budget the lovely people on here will reply with some very good advice.

The most well-known brands are outwells, vangos, royals, sunncamps, colemans, gelerts, wynnsters. Then there are some less popular but equally respected brands such as wild country, terra nova. I'm sure I missed out loads (and no doubt someone will be along with a big stick to hit me with for missing their beloved model out), but it really isn't so much about certain brands being 'the best', it's what is best for you really that counts. Like you've found, there have been problems with some ebay tents, and that's why this site is so good as you can find a tent you like the look of (in displays) and post on here to get comments from owners. Personal experience of tents is the best reccommendation, I think, but you need to have an idea of what you like as we all have different wants/needs/ expectations. As for berths, if you expect there to be four of you, go for a six berth.

what about lichfield there owned by vangos plus there well worth ur  a go as ur first tent  there big very affordable and  have loads of room in them
