Hiya,

We are new campers -

We will be camping for the 1st time at the weekend, we have had trial runs in pitching our tent ! But I am worried about all the rain we have had (and may get) so wondered if anyone had any tips on pitching in the rain ??

Is there a knack in not getting the inner tent wet ? Or is it just a case of as quickly as possible ?

Hi todds3, welcome to UKCS.

Surely that tent is pitched flysheet first, so the inner should not get wet.  Even if the inner did somehow get wet it would soon dry out under the flysheet, until relatively recently most tents were pitched inner first so you could not avoid getting the inner wet.

Don't worry about the tent getting wet, just enjoy the camping.

It is pitched flysheet 1st but on our last practice run, we kept the inner attatched to the flysheet to save us time pitching at our campsite, especially with a 2 year old running around.

 I am thinking now to seperate them before we go ! What do people usually do ?

 I think I am just over worring really and I should just take your advice !

Emm..

I never leave the inners attached to my tents.  I find it much easier to pack everything, including the inner tents, before the flysheet is dropped.  This means that if it rains then only the flysheet is wet so is much easier to dry out later.

Separating the inners from the flysheet also makes it easier to fold the tent correctly to fit into the bag, a thing that many people seem to have trouble with.
