Goin away to Alpine Grove on Saturday and the weather looks Bad and that is an understatement. Never pitched our Aspen in the rain and realy not lookin foreward to it either. Anybody got any tips for pitching an inner first tent in the rain.

I agree that if you pitch as per the video on the Vango web site it shouldnt take long to pitch.I would wait hopefully for a break in the rain then go for it.There isnt really any other way to pitch it other than inner first so the objective is to get the outer on ASAP.The inner wont take long to dry if it gets abit wet but i would avoid getting it drenched if possible.Im sure some one above will give you a break in the rain when they see your pitching an ASPEN.
Happy camping

We've just returned from St.Ives it rained only two or three times over the 2 weeks we we're there BUT just as we had packed everything in the car and started to take the tent down the heavens opened, The Diablo being an inner first mean't that after we took the flysheet off within 5 minutes the inner was saturated, if we had been erecting it I don't think it would have dried out for days, you should definately wait for a break in the rain before you pitch. Have a nice time though...
My friend has an aspen and when we pitched in the rain once we did it very quickly !!! inner first. I went for a monty which is an all in one pitch much better in the rain!!
I hope you are not suggesting that having an Aspen makes you somehow lucky where the weathers concerned. Trust me I know different.

I am only suggesting being lucky were pitching is concerned as i always wait until the rain stops which it always does at some point. Maybe you are being to impatient and not waiting until it stops. As said above it only needs to be stopped for 30 Mins top. Keep your beer & wine at easy reach so you can chill whilst waiting for a break in the weather.

i watched the vango aspen vid and it would take me more than 30mins to put that up ,i think my temper would be a tad frayed if it rained, looks a cracker of a tent though

I do hope you are right about the rain stopping, I would hate to think that someone with your infinite patience would sit in your car for days on end confident that sooner or later it will stop. Still on a brighter note at least with the tent safely locked away in your trailer no spiders could set up home.
