Looking ahead to our trip to the South of france next year when we will be making 2 stopovers each way. We are a family of 4, kids 11 and 8. Cant decide whether to but 2 pop up tents( outwell jersey or quechua) or go for small easy to erect 4 man tent. We will have the large Cabanon frame tent but are lucky to have a very big boot to enable to us to take a 2nd tent for the stopovers although would rather have small pack size and keep the weight down. Any recommendations? Only need it to sleep in plus maybe small porch area to put a few bags etc

I was camping in Derbyshire last week and, believe it or not, it was torrential wind and rain on Friday night. The girl in the pitch next to us had cycled from Nottingham and had a Quencha pop up. The next morning she was warm, dry and popped her tent away as quickly as she pitched it.
Apart from there unweildy stowed away design they appear to be a perfect stoppover tent.
The VV500 has a reasonably big pack size - especially if you are only using it for 2 single overnight stops. It is a great tent, but I would probably go for a pop-up for what you are thinking of using it for.
Depends on how big your car is and how much stuff you take!
