Hi there

We had an Evo 600, which we bought as a "quick weekend away" tent.  Great design, and great features.  Easy to erect and dismantle.  9 out of 10 so far.  We'd still have it, if it hadn't have been for ....

minor leaks from a couple of seams - not a big deal, but annoying in a brand new tent.

manufacturing fault in the waterproofing of some panels - big leaks, which, if the tent had been five years old, we would have fixed.  However, in a brand new tent ??

major flaw in SIG.  This had two seams, neither of which were sealed with tape, but which were merely sewn.  Result - big leaks from water pushing up from underneath.  (Our retailer said that he thought that the seams ought to have tape on them).

Overall, we really rate the design of this tent.  On our tent, the manufacturing part let it down badly, even though we had numerous little "checked by squiggle" tags all over the place.  (Maybe Mister Squiggle had never seen a tent before).

We're now searching, again, for a five-ish man tent for weekends.

One last point.  I don't know if you have pitched yours yet, and are relying on the pictures for sizes.  Our tent was significantly smaller than the published dimensions, and I'm not talking just a few millimetres. Our tent measured 505 x 390, against the published 520 x 450.  Not good, if you want to insert double airbeds and things.  We never really had a satisfactory explanation to this, as we had returned the tent as unfit.

Hope this helps.

Z

Hi -

We've got the Evolution but haven't had chance to use it yet.

Our other Sunncamp ( Oasis 600) also has a stitched seam in the groundsheet and we found a small seepage of water from underneath ... however it was only slight and we quite literally had a river under the tent at the time .... no kidding ... it was a torrential storm and the tent was sitting on several inches of water ( it was like walking on a water bed !!! )

Given that it was unnaturally heavy rain, and the leak was small, we are just going to whack seam sealant along the whole seam next time we put the tent up.

Hi

We have the 400 for a weekend tent. Will be using it for the first time tomorrow for a weekend at South Lytchett Manor near Poole in Dorset. I'll let you know how we get on with it.

Martin

Well we survived ....

The 400 was perfect for the 3 of us (two adults and an 11 year old). We had some major rain on Friday and Saturday nights but not during the day. The tent held up pretty well, though we had a fair bit of condensation in the living area, but an hour with the door open soon dried this up.

Overall, for a weekend tent, we are very happy, just need a kitchen tent to go with it (see alternative thread).

well we came back after 10 days at castle rigg keswick, the tent withstood heavy rain and  strong gales while we were inside the tent..... however isnt it strange when im in the tent the tent billowing around us and the heaviest rain fall seems to turn in to a slight breeze and a shower of rain the moment i dare to step out of the tent!  tent lovely though  i recomend it.

Welcome back cheryle143 - glad to hear the Evolution held up in the rain.

We get to try ours out next weekend on the Isle of Anglesey ...although we aren't actually sleeping in it ... our daughter/son in law and their two children want to try camping so we are taking both our tents - we are using the Oasis 600 - and they are using the Evolution !!!

Will let you know how we get on !
