I am thinking of getting a freelander for short trips away with the family (2 adults and 3 kids). We would also use a Quechua for extra bedroom space. For those of you who have a Freelander are you happy with it, is it quite sturdy? Do you think there is enough room in there for 1 adult and 2  children or would it drive me mad.

I am looking at this for a 1 or 2 night stay and for longer trips would use our Indiana 8. I just need something quick and easy to pitch. My other alternative is to get a 2nd quechua and a fly sheet or similar.

Can you tell me if the Freelander has a SIG.

Thanks

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Plenty of room for what you need. Its a roomy 3 man to be honest with great standing room and it is superbly sturdy.

We use mine for 2 large adults at festival weekends (4 nights or so) and don't get cabin fever. You might feel differently though with 3 little ones though we have had about 8 adults in the living area chatting away and having a few drinkies.

No SIG though you can buy a footprint groundsheet for the porch. If you don't you will be on the grass. (not that I mind that)

With the groundsheet there will still be a small gap all around so that may be a concern for you though the bedroom is of course fully sealed.

I think when you compare to your 2 quechas and a fly sheet idea, the Freelander would be better.

Where about in South Wales are you? and when would you be looking to buy? My suggestion here is that you are more than welcome to come and see mine pitched if that would help?

Not this weekend though as I am away to a boggy field somewhere lol.

Thanks.

I think I am now sold on the Freelander, I just needed a little reasurance this it was a good tent as it is quite expensive for it's size.

I am currently trying to find the best deal on it at the moment and will let you know the final deal I get on this. I do like to haggle!

Thanks for the offer to come and see it, that is kind of you. I am in Cardiff, one of the suppliers not too far from me has one and so I will see it there but I do appreciate your kind offer.

Thanks

Hi, Not sure if they are still doing this price but :- GoOutdoors were selling at £168.00 which included the footprint groundsheet.

Hi,

Thanks for that, i will give them a ring tomorrow. They don't seem to have the freelander listed on their site but do have the groundsheet. I think I can get the freelander for £150. Aspinalls have it for £140 but with the postage it puts the cost up quite a bit as they want £15 to post!  They may have some 2nds coming soon very cheap but I don't like the idea that you just don't know what your getting. I think i'd rather play safe and have new and pay the extra.

No probs Karen.

Seems we also share a name as I am a Karen too

Glad you will be able to see the tent as it's really the best way to see if it is what you need.
