hi,just got back from our 1st ever camping trip at Blue Dolphin North Yorkshire.

but with the rain we have had lately the ground was a bit wet still, plus we had a few showers while we were there. So the ground sheet got a bit muddy, but i will just mop that down and hang out to dry[non sig]........

but the tent itself did get mud on in in places more from when we packing it away and folding it up.......just wondered what would be the best way to clean it i was thinking of just laying it over the washing line and hosing it down, then let it dry.......but is it ok to do this? and is it ok to hose the inside aswell? and dont really wanna use any cleaning products as it may take some of the rain resistance away,as it was very waterproof when it rained[coleman wyoming]

be thankfull for any help

cheers John

Hi John. Yes, the best idea is to just hose it down. You may find it easier to do this if you can pitch the tent, but if not, then draped over the clothes line will be okay - it just means that your OH will get soaked when she has to turn it round so that you can hose the bits you missed

Don't use any detergent on it. If there are any stubbon stains, just use pure soap flakes (you can grate up a bar of soap if you can't find soap flakes in your local shops), and rub it gently with a sponge on the outside only.

I've found the best way to keep our tent clean is to wait until our next trip and then, after pitching and before the bedroom pods and any furniture is put in, go around it using a sponge with clean, cold water to wipe off any muddy bits.

Seems pointless to clean it at home first and then get it all mucky again when you pitch on muddy or wet grass.
