Hi there,
There's so many tents to choose from so its best to work out a budget first. Would you only use it for long holidays or for short breaks too? For four of you, you'll need a 6-8 berth. Then you need to think about whether you want a contained tent with a sewn in groundsheet (keeps kids in and bugs out) or one with a ground sheet that's seperate or can be zipped out (good for hotter climates). As you mentioned, you're tall so you need good height in living area but also bedroom length.
As for reccommendations, you'll get loads on here as we all think our tents are the mutts nutts lol. Mine is, of course, (well, two of them are) but may not be what you're looking for. Tunnel tents, like the sunncamp varios, give good head height throughout and are easy to pitch. My favourite tent, the wild country halo, is a really sturdy, weatherproof tent (been out in it since feb in torrential rain & wind etc. not moved an inch) but doesn't have full height in the bedrooms. (Although this isn't an issue for us as you tend to spend most of your time laying down in the bedrooms, unless you're a sentry). I love my halo tent because it hasn't let me down in the bad weather, unlike my vario which bends in the wind thanks to its x-flex poles!!
If you give some idea of budget, use, etc, then people can advise you better. Best to go for a tent with a HH (hydrostatic head) of at least 3000. As for EHU (electric hook up) it does make life easier. Make sure you get a proper one from camping shop so that its safe. Its a lead with RCD and plugs on end.
Good luck with your search!
