Sometimes a few of us but mainly only two girls camping, our Vango has done its time and we are after a new tent. We are pretty experienced in erecting tents and dont mind getting stuck in. We want a new tent thats got lots of space. I want the Hartford L but my camping partner wants the Montana 6. Please be honest, which would you recommend for ease of erection, reliability and keeping out the wet as we have had some pretty wet and muddy trips!
Cheers
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
I'll start by saying I don't have either, but I do prefer the Montana 6. You see a lot good things being said about them here. There may just as well be just as many hartford l fans as well.
I had a Nebraska XXL, loved the space but it leaked, 2 different tents, so now we have a Vermont L coming on Monday.
A few things have been brought to my attention by a few members here and I taken that advice.
1. Compare the pitch needed for you tent to the actuall space you have to use inside your tent. If you have a pod tent, you will still have a square or rectangular pitch but your tent will take up much less space in that pitch leaving lots of wasted space. The Montana is more like a tunnel tent and the pitch space on it is going to the same as the space you have to use inside the tent.
2. Lots of campsites will charge more for larger tents or may just turn you away. I'm not sure in the Hartford L would find itself in that problem. Someone else made a point that this may be the trend with more and more families getting into camping and limited space.
Hope that helps a bit, I found it helpful to me as well. I still prefer the Neb XXL, but after this, the Vermont L will be fine.
