Before I buy one in the next couple of weeks there are a couple of things I need to know, firstly the new 2007 model is out - what are the differences between this and the earlier model? Secondly after doing a search for the XL on Google I was suprised to see a few reviews and all negative pointing to leaky tents!!! Is this true?

We have just returned from 2 weeks in IOW where the weather was glorious apart from the first weekend when it rained and yes, you guessed it, our Nebraska XL leaked. This is our second one so pretty gutted as the tent itself is fantastic for space, layout etc. I contacted Yeomans today who I bought the tent from and they have been extremely helpful. They are out of stock now until next year but offered to lend me a tent for my next 2 camping trips! I opted to hang on to ours to see out this year but I can then return it to them and they will give me a credit note for a brand new 2008 model. They also told me that Outwell are very aware of the problem but thousands of these tents had already been made by the time the problem was highlighted. Lets hope they get their act together for next year - surely they won't want another load of unhappy customers!
If you are thinking of the Nebraska, have a look at the Royal Pescara 8. Almost identical in design but has a few features that the Nebraska does not have. I also had 2 Nebraskas and both leaked and both suffered from the poles bending and faulty stitching. This only became apparant after a few uses. I have just returned from 2 weeks in the IOW with the first week having torrential rain ( so bad in-fact that they had to close the campsite due to flooding ). The 2nd week was glorious sunshine. The Pescara stood upto both extremely well. It had no leaks. I am just about to post a full review of the Pescara on here with full photos etc. It should be there is the next few days.
The Nebraska problems have been going on for 2 seasons now. Last season Outwell completely denied the problem but the dealers told me to hang on for the 2007 model when the problems would be fixed. But the 2007 model had some of the same problems. It seems Outwell are now saying they will be fixed in the 2008 model.
Ditto to Langleys. The Pescara is same layout but a non leaky design and an absolutely fantastic tent. Have had Royal tents before and they've always been excellant quality. Will love this one forever!!!

Had a look at the Royal tents, one thing I dont get is why do the Nebraskas leak when its a much thicker material? Is the ground sheet just zipped in the porch area?
on the royal pescara8 the main tent is sig and porch is removable as is the rear room .
personally i think this is the best tent on the market for room and features we use a footprint groundsheet for the main area which is an outwell one though i think royal do one ,plus for added comfort we got the outwell carpet .
stand up bedrooms which is brill .
only down side is the ammout of tent pegs needed .
