after two months of waiting for the weather to change we got away at the weekend to test all our new kit. Lots of lessions learned and new questions posed.

Here's one of them

We have a Gerlet Lokon Vario 6. Maybe i set it up wrong but there seemed no way of fixing the flysheet to the grass (other than then the pole fixing points). The length of the flysheet in between the pole fixing points just seemed the left laying blowing in the wind. There does seem to be small hoops for putting a peg through, but  they seemd too high up to be pegged to the floor.

I'm hoping sombody else with the same tent can tell what i'm doing wrong. One though i did have was getting some of thoses "Cling-on" things and fastening them to the botton of the flysheet so it can be fixed to the floor all the way round.

Hi

I have just recently bought this tent and have only been camping in it once so I may be wrong. I pegged down the flaps that are in between the poles. You can either peg them under the ground sheet or out the way. I pegged them out the way because it was raining and I wanted the rain to run away from the tent. Apart from that we pegged all the rubber loops near the poles as well.

It worked a treat as we had a really snug tent and only a little draft and most importantly it kept all the rain out. I don't know if this is how you are meant to do it or not but I will being pegging it this way again.

i know exactly the problem you are talking about - and we used to peg the little loops, but found they would come out in windy conditions. I bought some eyelets from towsure - and put them on the bottom of each section of flysheet, and pegged them down. We used it last august on Anglesey - and we had no problems with wind coming underneath. I have seen those clip things you mention - and they might be just as good.

Failing that - get the kids to find some large stones(or buy some scottish cobbles) and put some of these round the bottom of the tent - creating a nice rustic cottage feel!!

why haven't they invented silent opening zips??!!
