hello everyone,
i am considering buying a vango colorado 800 dlx tent. the tent is used, but in exeptional condition. i do not know how old it is, but it is blue in colour, it has 2 pods which are 4+4 NOT 2+4+2 ? if anybody knows this particular model can u please advise me if £100.00 is a fair price. thankyou for taking the time to read this message.

If I remember correctly, the 800 DLX had the 4+4 pod arrangement in 2004/2005. Nice versatile tent, because it has a second door with flat wall and this is big enough to use as a main door and thus have the porch area free for storage etc. If you`re happy with the 4+4 pod arrangement (they`re not vast pods, and won`t take two double airbeds, but have dividers and thus could be used for two opposite sex older kids on single airbeds) then it`s worth considering, as there`s few vis-a-vis tents like this around, with the double doors and big porch. I never quite understood why Vango changed it to the 2+4+2 arrangement given that they already had the 4+4+4 1200dlx.

I have a 2004 Colorado 1200dlx, and the asking price for that was around £370 down to £270 when they got discontinued. (I was lucky and landed one for £199.) The current price for the 2007 800dlx is around £190. I usually think a used tent should cost about 50% of the regular price, so £100 for a little used, good condition tent is a fair enough deal.

The 2005 version was before the riser groundsheets were introduced, btw, so expect a flat groundsheet in the living area and stormflaps round the porch section. (No stormflaps in the sleeping pod area, but this is the normal design even now.) The Colorados are a doddle to put up btw...big tents, so not super-speedy, but no odd quirks and they`re very stable once up.

Hi, the earlier version has a flat back wall "kitchen" part which is ideal for cooking but if it has this i would say £100 is too expensive as its rather old.

If it is this type offer £60 then buy a can of re-proofer spray to be on the safe side.

If its the newer type £80 sounds closer to the mark. especially with the price of some of the new stuff in the sales at millets, go outdoors etc.caused by the poor weather

We had one for about 5 years and loved it but the new type don't have the kitchen bit so we have a different set up now. Still have a pic of the vango on my gallery pics though.

regards simon.

its not that old we bought ours last year and the kitchen bit at the back lifts open so its nice if its really hot as you have a back door.  we loved this tent but its a bit big for us so we have downsized and i think £100. is very good depending how long they had it and what condition its in.as we paid about £280 last year.. i think its year is 2005.. but its a lovely tent really spacious.. good luck..
