I was lucky enough to pick up a brand new 2006 model (Kyham Excelsior XXL with footprint groundsheet and annexe for just £399 posted a couple of months back. We camped with it for the first time last week and I am really happy with the space. My understanding is that the 2006 annexe is much bigger (at 3m x 3m) than the 2007 model. It comes with a glass fibre tensioning pole that you can fit to keep the annexe the correct shape where it connects to the main tent. That's where my question comes in - it looked a lot of hassle to fit the poles so I didn't bother. The annexe still worked really well, so I'm wondering if anyone has the same outfit and can tell me what difference those annexe poles make?

I camp a lot with my motorcycle club - I have a Khyam McKinley for that purpose. However, this was my wife's first time camping and she and my daughter really appreciated the high roof and large bedrooms in the Excelsior. The large annexe keeps the 3m x 3m living area clear - something my two big dogs appreciated. If anyone is wondering about this tent I can highly recommend it.

Mike

I think the annexe was originally sold without the support pole and  still worked well. The support pole is a recent addition to stop the annexe collecting water when it rains heavily, and it stops any excessive flapping in the wind.

Andy Pandy666 has fitted the pole to his and will be more help than me. We have still not gotten round to using our annexe.
