Hi All......haven't been on for ages, we have now finally collected all the stuff we think we will need and we are ready to go....just been on another site and loads of people are giving the Montana 6 a right pasting....broken poles, leaks, too much condensation....I was really looking forward to camping but now and feeling really nervous.  Have just been and checked the poles are they look brown, well sort of brass colour, to me which apparently are the newer type!  we haven't put the tent up yet, not even got it out of the bag...I'm taking it that they come with pegs and stuff don't they?!.....OOOOHHHH really worried now, hoping to get away at the end of the month....please can anyone put my mind at rest............

Bev

Hi Bev, we have a Monty 6 and it's great, the newer type poles are square in cross section and you should have 2 bags, 1 with the tent and the other with the poles, and yes they come with everything you need (except a mallett!) I would suggest investing in some Delta pegs for added strength.

there have been a lot of bad postings on the Montys, but it is still one of the most popular tents, and a good seller, a symptom of selling lots of them I suspect. don't worry, go and have a great time! we've got twin girls 5 years olfd and we all have loads of space - you'll sure love your Monty 6

Regards
Steve

One of the problems with forums like this is the number of complaints often outweighs the number of satisfied customers, but that's because none of the satisfied customers need help to solve their problems, so they don't post.

I think it would be a real eye openner to see some info on how many are sold and how many complaints there are and we'd find that the number of complaints on the forums are out of proportion.

We've been having the same problem looking for a new printer (not an area I'm familiar with hence lots of research) but it seems that there's always someone who's got something bad to say, whatever make/model you choose and it's the same here.

I think what I'm trying to say is, don't borrow trouble. I hope your trip goes really well. I'm sure your tent will be fine.

Hi Gilyan, you might be interested but last year there was two threads started re outwell tents, those unhappy and those happy with the tents.I am unable to find them although Im sure someone else here can help. But as you so rightly mention complaints will always outweigh positive comments. Outwell do sell a vast number of tents here and in europe and people in the know here on this forum have said many a time the return rate is no worse than any other make.
