past  2years we have had a sunncamp festiva its a huge 12 berth tent that takes at leat 3 to put it up, now i have become a single mum, i still want to take the kids camping,we went few weeks go and i did manage to get the festiva up with the help of other campers, but i wanted something i could put up myself, looking for a cooker at a tent shop and came away with the vngo idaho 600, we have had it up this afternoon and i can put this up easily on my own in about 10 mins, which is brill, there is me and my3 kids, they are 3, 5 and nearly 7 so we will all sleep in one pod and use the other as storage, the size is smaller and i wonder if it is now a good buy, i think its fine for the weekend and 5 day trips, but i plan to book for the 6 weeks hols next year, so i will then pitch my sunncamp up, so now i am the proud owner of 2 tents, hope i made a good decision to buy this tent. BTW never did get the new stove, the old one is fine, and the tent was 124.00

Hi Jane, I think the Idaho is a nice looking tent. For a longer trip what about adding a kitchen tent or a dayroom with the Idaho - it might be easier than pitching the bigger tent?

I don't know anything about Vango canopies but hopefully someone else can help you with that.

For kitchen tents look at something like this

and for dayrooms something like this

We have both and mainly use them as an either or. A kitchen tent is useful if you've got little ones as you can keep all the hot and pointy things away from little hands. They are also useful for throwing chairs, bikes etc. in at night.

We use the dayroom either as just living space or as shared living/cooking space.

You might find that adding a kitchen tent allows you to use the Vango rather than having the hassle of pitching the bigger tent.

Good on you Jane for going it alone with your tent. I became a single mum 2 years ago and was determined that I wasn't going to give up camping but thought at the time that the Outwell Hartford XL would be too difficult to put up on my own. Having just done my second holiday with my Gelert Utah 4+4 I've decided to sell it and go back to the Outwell next year.

I have to say I felt a great sense of achievement being able to put either tent up on my own and even packing the car felt good (traded down from a galaxy to a mondeo). I'm also lucky because my kids are 15 and 11 so are able to help me now far more than when their father was around.
