We have a Royal Biaritz 6 - Fantastic tent - only problem was - Sat night It rained not stop and there was a river running underneath the tent - it was like walking on a water bed - Lad woke up wet as he had come of air bed and was lying directy on ground sheet - water was coming up where table and chairs stood - basically anything that was on floor had water underneath it.
Should this happen with a sewn in ground sheet?
What can be done to stop it happening in the future - luckily nothing got damaged - but we came home a night early because of the amount of water underfoot.
Thanks
Lou

It`s a common misconception that groundsheets are 100% waterproof....if you`re in puddles and put pressure on a groundsheet, over time the water will start to seep through. Groundsheets are made in different qualities though and the time it takes to do this varies. Royal is a middle range brand, so perhaps their groundsheets are not quite as good as some.
The amount of water you describe does sound excessive though, so it might be worth complaining to the shop where you bought it from and seeing what they say.
As to what you can do about it? Main one is to be very careful where you pitch next time and try to avoid dips in the ground. (Not easy!) A footprint groundsheet underneath the tent will give more protection as well, especially if you use thick builders plastic rather than just more groundsheet material. Make sure it`s cut slightly smaller than the tent groundsheet though otherwise it will act as a water scoop and channel water under your groundsheet, which is exactly what you don`t want.
We just spent a week near Bakewell and the site was very muddy when we arrived. The plot they gave us was on a slight slope but no problem. We have a footprint groundsheet we made ourselves from heavy duty polythene. During the week we had one day of heavy rain and under our tent became I can only describe it as a bog. As you said it was like walking on a water bed. BUT not one bit came into the tent and we were warm and dry inside. We do have a SIG. When we packed up we thought we were in for a right old mess but again the polythene had kept the bottom of the tent totally clean. Just folded the footprint up and hosed it down when we got home.
We have a Sunncamp Haven 600 with a sig, last week we had one heavy night of rain and where there is stitching for the clips water came in, i found puddles in 2 places in the morning, I was wondering the same thing is this common?
I,ve bought some waterproofing spray , will this stop the leak?

We have the same tent but have made a footprint with tarpaulins and duck tape big thunderstorm last night dry rooms also helps prevent stones making holes in SIG
Have spoken to place we bought tent from and they are going to give us a new inner. I Like the idea of a footprint - where would sell them or is it best to make one - if so how?
We made ours from heavy duty plastic, it was a bit fiddly to do for the Hartford. Since then Outwell have brought out purpose made footprints but on looking at them we think we will stick with our homemade one. They appear to be made of the same stuff as the SIG which is not that robust.

We made ours we just pitched the inner and marked around it on the grass then used groundsheets from wilkinsons 5 off at 3.99 each i think cut to shape and stick together with dick tape whole lot for about thirty pounds but the groundsheet is very strong and much more waterproof. Also when we took it up on monday after a weeks camping it was covered in mud which would have been on our tent SIG and have gotten all over the inner
Hiya... we've got the same tent and have just had our first holiday in it. Ground was a little damp when we got there and we did have a couple of nights of wind and rain but ours didn't leak at all - it was brilliant.
