Just thought I'd share my buying process as we've just been in a dilemma as to which tent to buy, but we've just bought the Norfolk Lake at what I think is a good price, £549 price matched by Somerset Camping. They still have stock in (2 I think) and will presumably price match still as they said they just wanted to get rid of this years stock now.

We'd narrowed it down to a Bear Lake 6, Vermont L, Vermont XL. I really, really like the Bear Lake 6 as it looked great, had the poly cotton which felt great, it looked sturdy as well, but the open canopy at the front wasn't so great with our weather. We also wanted somewhere separate for the dog to sleep in. If they did something that would enclose the front a little more this would almost certainly have been the one I think.
After seeing the poly cotton I didn't really want the Vermont even though the layout was great for us. So some searching on the internet led me here to a post mentioning the Bear Lake and the Norfolk Lake. We hadn't even considered the Norfolk Lake so did some research and although IMHO it doesn't look as good as the Bear Lake it looks like a great compromise. Couple that with a price that was only £10 different from the Bear Lake 6 then I don't think we could go wrong!
We're now really looking forward to our first trip out in it! Just need to decide where and when.

I agree with your comments, especially about the open canopy as we found out in June when it rained the whole week in the Loire valley. However, in the end we opted for the BL6, why.........

looks and feel, ease to erect, size, some sites have issues with larger tents, price and the hope that Outwell will review the front canopy as it only zips on and off. Also, we have a day room 3mx3m which is minimum size you need to eat confortably with 2 adults and 3 children.

According to another thread Outwell are introducing a side canopy next year in polycotton for the Lake tents.
