Had a fantastic two weeks in Chamonix in the French Alps in July this year. It was only the second time we had used our Outwell Montana 6 and not only was the tent superb for comfort and space but it also stood up to the heaviest and longest lasting rain storms we have ever experienced.
Not a drop of rain or even condensation could we find dispite us using a heater every night because although most of the days were very hot when the sun dipped behind the mountains the temperature dipped with it.
The tent was bought second hand and we were rather worried after reading some horror stories on this site. Can only speak as you find though but just wanted to balance the opinion of this tent so people aren't put off buying this amazing tent.
Don't forget to leave a review of all tents you've used, for a chance to win fantastic prizes
I think mine is suberb too, it has stood up to very heavy and prolonged rain, strong winds. the only prob i have is getting it dried out when having to bring it home wet!!
We did the Auvergne in 2005 and the Alps in 2006 and likewise ours withstood horrendous weather including hail the size of golf balls. We have caravanned for the last 12 months but I really miss the tent and I reckon next year we will be off to France with it again.
Hey, Happy Hiker. Sounds like you should take that heater back. We use a gas one all the time and it's ace. Hi, cmcpne. We adore our Monty 6, although we had to send our first one back because it leaked.

I was amazed with our Monty on the first 2 trips out in the howling rain, but the last 2 trips it has leaked in! only on the seams but its enough to p*ss you off! Went to buy some seam sealant from our local camp shop and guess what? they have sold out! Just got back from IOW the poles were nearly bent with the gales and without the canopy the front door is useless in rain. We had to take the canopy down because it was nearly recked in the wind. Used Deltas allround on every guy but it didnt stop it bending in and we caved in before the tent ripped. Lovely tent, wouldnt have any other but they are not all weather proof so beware! With SIG its a messy job when they leak in. Still not as messy as sleeping on flowing water before you.
Its not put us off camping, were off again next weekend! With some tent sealant!
I am on my second Montana 6 having returned the first one because it leaked at the seam for the sleeping compartments. Outdoor World were very good in replacing the first but having pitched the tent yesterday the same fault is in the replacement and I will be returning that one also.
Can anyone suggest a suitable watertight replacement.
