Saw several pro action tents this weekend at Haven Burnham on Sea. They seemed to stand up to the job. I would like to think they were good enough for most weather conditions if properly pegged out. I decided that I didnt want to risk getting wet when we thought about camping so went for the more expensive mid range tents.

3 kids cost us a fortune so I cant imagine how much 9 could get through. If you are on a strict budget I would give it a try. £114 for that size tent looks a good price for the size.

Hi John, I expect you have looked on ebay, but the tent you mention comes up regularly, and usually sells for £50-70, even boxed and unused.  Last year they were reduced to £129, so this year the Argos deal seems even better. Millets were selling their Balmoral for £149, which is a 10 berth.  It's the bigger version of my Windsor eurohike which I am very pleased with.  You might want brand new, but if money is tight, then second hand tents (from private sellers) seem to go for very reasonable prices.  I only know because I spent ages watching tent sales.  The only other thing to note about tents like the pro-action (I have no idea of their quality) is that they take up a large space and you may find trouble with pitch size at some sites - some saying no, or that you must pay for two pitches.

Happy shopping.

Sharon

There was one of these on the pitch next to me on our last trip. It seemed to stand up to the very poor weather pretty well, which considering they had made a right pig`s ear of pitching it was doubly impressive. However...it`s a very large tent, so you might need two picthes on some sites. (They were using 3` or so of ours, so they had no worries, grrr...) Also, it didn`t seem to have an awful lot of permenant ventillation for a tent that size.

Also...well, Pro-Acttion tents are okay, but they`re not top quality. If you can accept that they might not be quite as robust as some makes and can get it for a good price then you do get a lot of space for the money, however.
