There is a definate knack to it, my friend who has one (quechua) makes it look so easy!

Not heard many reports about the Outwell but I recently bought a Quechua 2-second XL on the strengh of the good reports on here.

I am delighted with it, it looks well made and as soon as it arrived I tried it out in the garden a few times to get the knack of folding it back down.

No problems with getting it back down so long as you follow the easy to follow instructions which are sewn into it's holdall.

I must have unfolded/folded it half a dozen times (like a kid with a new toy as my wife said!) and found no problems with anything breaking or getting damaged.

Only problem with the Quechua tents is finding one which can be a real pain as there are only about 6 Decathlon stores in the UK and none in Scotland where I live.

So it was either a choice of travelling down to Stockport, my nearest Decathlon store being 440 miles away or buying one off Ebay.

Ended up buying on off Ebay but luckily managed to get one not much dearer than the instore price.

So I would not pay much attention to people saying Quechua pop up tents are impossible to fold back down, it seems this tale is turning into an urban legend!

I just really wonder how many of these people read the instructions before they try and pack it away.

Same problem with stores for me as they have none in Wales either.

I have a friend that lives near one though and next time I visit I am going to get the 3 second light.

We have the Outwell Jersey 2 man tent, we use it for overnighting on the way to our destination in France rather than erect the Monty for a night.  Great little tent, the hydrostatic head is good and it is well made.

I suspect its down to knowing the knack. I have never tried to fold down a popup tent but we have a dogbag http://www.dog-bag.co.uk/ which must be the same sort of principle.

I can fold the dog bag up and get it into its rucksack in seconds. My normally very practical son finds it an impossible task!

BTW,  do the Outwell popups  have the same removeable groundsheet on the base (as well as the SIG) that Quechuas do? MT
