I do not know if they are good or not, but I am pretty sure they have a sewn in groundsheet and a mesh inner.

The better ones are the Quechua's.

|They have various models including the smaller packing light" They are all double skinned too and I have seen them stand up fantastically to evil weather.

we have the quechua and the outwell and love them both although the outwell has a slightly better hydrostatic head than the quechua but i wouldnt let that put you off. the tents have sigs and can quite easily be seprerated from the frame for ease of washing. its easy to put back in its bag once you have mastered it. think there is a video on the web somewhere of how to do it. takes me about 30 secs to do it because i am only small and the tent is quite big

Not heard many reports about the Outwell but I recently bought a Quechua 2-second XL on the strengh of the good reports on here.

I am delighted with it, it looks well made and as soon as it arrived I tried it out in the garden a few times to get the knack of folding it back down.

No problems with getting it back down so long as you follow the easy to follow instructions which are sewn into it's holdall.

I must have unfolded/folded it half a dozen times (like a kid with a new toy as my wife said!) and found no problems with anything breaking or getting damaged.

Only problem with the Quechua tents is finding one which can be a real pain as there are only about 6 Decathlon stores in the UK and none in Scotland where I live.

So it was either a choice of travelling down to Stockport, my nearest Decathlon store being 440 miles away or buying one off Ebay.

Ended up buying on off Ebay but luckily managed to get one not much dearer than the instore price.

So I would not pay much attention to people saying Quechua pop up tents are impossible to fold back down, it seems this tale is turning into an urban legend!

I just really wonder how many of these people read the instructions before they try and pack it away.

Same problem with stores for me as they have none in Wales either.

I have a friend that lives near one though and next time I visit I am going to get the 3 second light.

We have the Outwell Jersey 2 man tent, we use it for overnighting on the way to our destination in France rather than erect the Monty for a night.  Great little tent, the hydrostatic head is good and it is well made.

Can vouch for the quechuas too!!

No problems with packing away either, even my son can pack it away, just take a couple of practises and follow instructions sewn into bag.

Having read this thread, I've just put mine up in the bedroom (my Quechua tent before anybody comments) and timing myself it took me 31 seconds to fold it and zip it away in its bag.

I suspect its down to knowing the knack. I have never tried to fold down a popup tent but we have a dogbag http://www.dog-bag.co.uk/ which must be the same sort of principle.

I can fold the dog bag up and get it into its rucksack in seconds. My normally very practical son finds it an impossible task!

BTW,  do the Outwell popups  have the same removeable groundsheet on the base (as well as the SIG) that Quechuas do? MT

Now, there are two slightly different ways of folding these pop up thingies and you need to know which you are trying to do before you start as the technique is different. We have the Outwell Jersey S and the Quechua 2 seconds II, both 2 man popups which look very similar when erected, but they have different techniques to putting away.

The Outwell is the 'triple loop' method and the Quechua is the 'figure of 8 method'. We also have the Quechua beach tent (gosh that's a fabulous piece of kit - no poles to mess about with on a windy beach) and that has the same 'figure of 8' method. The 'triple loop' is slightly easier to manage but the 'figure of 8' results in a smaller diameter package.

I stress, you cannot chop and change between the two methods - some fold up one way - some fold up the other. The answer is in the instructions.....

Yes, my Quechua 2-second original version folds up by the figure-of-9 method, while my 1-second uses the figure-of-8 method - the same method that the "light" range uses.

Both methods are very easy to master, the figure-of-9 being just slightly more straightforward in my opinion.

We've got 2 Quechua 2 second tents (the "air" versions) and they're brilliant! Stood up to thunderstorms in France this year without a problem.

Putting them up - well... 2 seconds. Folding them away takes a little longer - maybe 2 minutes.. but hey, after having to take down the 4 man tent (half an hour) 8 times this summer, 2 minutes is nothing!!

We got ours in France as Decathalon is a French company - the prices seem to be equivalent Euros for Pounds so much cheaper there!
