I recently bought a tent from Yeomans but they are out of stock of the carpet. A much bigger carpet for another tent is cheaper than the carpet for my tent but may be too big.
I emailed to ask them first of all why the carpet for my tent is more expensive than the same type of carpet for a bigger tent. I also asked if they will be having my tent carpet back in stock and if so would they sell it at the cheaper price.
They have not replied - lol.
On a different level I recently bought a cooker from Currys then afterwards discovered that had I put a code word into the order form I could have got it £12 cheaper. I phoned them up and asked if I could add the code word now and they agreed and reimbursed me £12.
So some companies will oblige with offers and reductions, after all it's no skin off the salesman's nose, and some will fail to help or respond. Fair enough...use a different company next time.

I really believe in supporting local small business because if we dont there will only be the same large retailers in every town leaving you ultimately limited choice.
Can i ask you where you do your shopping if you don't use supermarkets?
We use our local butchers and greengrocers and do use supermarkets too.Our butchers is better value than the supermarkets and the meat is ten times better. The grocers is a lot cheaper than a supermarket.
We also grow stuff. At present we have grapes (white and pinot noir),apples (bramleys and braeburn) runner beans, figs and cherries and just had the last of the tomatoes.
The point is if you dont use them then they will go and when the supermarkets all put up their prices because there is no where else to go then what ? Its too late complaining once its gone.
Thing is their are loads of supermarkets now and yes they have put an end to little retailers but when the small guys have all gone what will happen then?.....they will fight among themselves and the biggest bully of them all will win,the way it these days.
My wife worked in 3 well known butchers in the town and all have closed reason is they could'nt compete even though the meat was by far superior to supermarkets the prices killed it.
Same thing is gonna happen in the camping world.......GO at the moment rule cause they are the supermarket of camping unless someone else comes along they will get bigger and bigger and no more mr little guy, even if the likes of Yeomans follow suit what will Go do,more than likely buy them out.
When i was a kid Millets was thee camping place, how many people use them these days...not many.
So at the end of the day imho if you can wheel and deal to save a few quid.....GO FOR IT the little boys were'nt offering great deals when they had the market.

So you were price matching against a 3 year old tent? How old was the one at World of Camping?
I am afraid i would have politely told you where to go,as said before you were quite happy to get £10 off in the first place.
Erm, have you by any chance noticed the date of the original post?
