Find out how big the tear is as there are a couple of ways of repairing it.
Firstly you can clean the area and stick some masking tape on the reverse of the tear to hold it together and using some material the same as the tent and glue apply a patch that is cut an inch bigger than the tear and then have it stictched into place - removing the masking tape first and then applying some sealant over the back of the tear and stitching then once this is dry apply a patch inside but just glueing this in place in stead of stitching
or
use some Tenacious tape - available from all good camp shops and apply a piece each side over the tear making sure it is bigger than the tear and ensuring the area is free of dirt etc; - this stuff is amazing and it can be replaced once it starts to get tatty or loosen.
Both will do the trick quite nicely
