morning campers..... we are looking for a 4 birth tent something that is quick and easy to erect, we have a montana 6 but want something smaller for the odd night/weekend camping, at times it may be just my wife and 2 kids going camping. we quite like the look of the Jamet Pacific 4 Family Dome Tent -Gelert Stratus 4 Family Tunnel Tent and the Vango Idaho 400 Tunnel Dome Tent, anyone know of anything better/easier to pitch. must have bedrooms together and sig.

I don't think the Gelert Status 4 has SIG throughout the living area, just the bedroom pods.

If you want a tunnel tent with SIG throughout then the Vango Oregon 400 and the Coleman Columbus 4 are good ones to consider. The Vango Idaho probably offers slightly more living space than these tunnel tents.

We're thinking of doing exactly the same thing as you and getting something smaller for weekend trips. I'm veering towards an Outwell Minnesota 4 as wife likes as much headroom throughout as possible. Bit pricier than your choices though.

Regards,

Laurence

We have a Gelert Stratus 4 and put it up for the first time today.  The inner room has a sig and the ground sheet for the front of the tent is a continuation from the inner room.  It has to be pegged down.  I think the reason for this is that there are three doors - one at the front which can be a canopy - and  two living area side panels which can be unzipped to allow access.  It would therefore be difficult to have a sig all round the tent.

I was amazed at the space inside.  Although it is not mentioned in any information it is possible to put a dividing curtain in the bedroom - supplied - but we will proabably keep the bedroom as one space.

They don't really get any easier to pitch.

No sig in the living area though

Our Khyam 5000 was such a bargain at £89 & once we had figured out that the metal rings with sticky out pegs were meant to go inside the tent poles it was easy peasy to pitch & having the inner bedrooms with the fly mesh was great for keeping the flys/spiders out too - pleased with our purchase!

Sharplesx3, which one is your tent? Is it the Santiago? Does it have a SIG? Sorry but I am also in the market for a weekender, hence all the questions.

thanks to everyone who reponded... some good tents there but unfortunatley none made it into our short list..., the list below is the short list we have made, does anyone have any experience/veiws of any of the tents listed or know of any better we have not come across?.as stated its going to be a wkend tent and something smaller than our monty6 and will be used for my OH 2 young children and me, but at time just my wife and kids thats why bedrooms together and a sig is prefered and also easy to erect.

Easy Camp Napoli 500.

Vango Oragon 400.

The Outwell Minnesota 4's are on sale in Yeomans at the mo, picked one up this morning for a weekend tent, £209 instead of the £299 normal price

Got the front canopy to but that was normal price.

Hi Matshan,

Yes it is the Santiago - we got it from Outdoor World in Warrington & they had it on display. It doesn't have a SIG but both bedrooms are seperate rooms which clip onto the main tent so the bedrooms have sown in & have a dual door which can be sealed just with the mesh door for airing or with the proper door. The ground sheet in the living area was included but not sown in but did fit well & the door flaps overlap once closed & we got the canopy poles included so we had the porch bit open for most of the weekend giving us that little bit more extra space. Standing room in the living area was good as well - does the job for us :)

Hope that helps.

Karen

Have a Vango Oregon 400 as a short stay tent and think it's a great tent. Very easy to pitch (I can do it on my own in 20 mins), good headroom throughout. The bedroom pods will take 2 double beds. I have the 2006 version which doesn't have a SIG, so can't comment on that. I only use it for 3 of us, so would maybe consider the 600 for 4 of you, only 1 more pole, so could still be put up by one person.
