Does anyone know of a suitable extension or canopy which will fit onto the side of the Montana 12 to make a suitable safe cooking area? We've got the side canopy, which hasn't stood up that well in windy weather (bust pole and two plastic pole clips ripped off!) and we'd really like something fully enclosed like the Khyam annexe. We adore our Monty 12 but really wish it had somewhere to cook (and leave a kitchen stand set up) and do not want to resort to changing models to Nebraska or something. What about the Outwell Hartford porch extension thingy - don't suppose anyone knows if this can be slung over a tunnel style tent as well? All the blurb says may fit many other tents, but this isn't much help. I'd consider other brands if anyone has found something which fits.

I have an extension on the front on my montana 6 am not sure whether it would fit the 12 or not as I dont know whether there is much width difference of not - I have a pic of it on my profile if that will help you any.

I always pitch my tent as best I can with the wind going against the bedroom end rather than the living end so that wind is not an issue when cooking.

Am sure someone will be along to give you some other ideas

Kitten x

fortunately I stay at the same site alot and as its in a valley and its location I managed to sus the wind direction - if you see a mad woman with her finger in the air for over 5 minutes it will be me

it will mean I am on a new site and dont know where the prevailing wind is coming from lol

That's a possibility but we mainly do weekend camping and I didn't really want to take a separate tent as well. They invariably get charged extra for and my Monty 12 is already classed as a large family tent which often incurs a premium. I notice from your pics you've got a separate tent for your cooker. What make/model is it and what do you usually get charged to add it to your pitch? Ta.
