We're looking at upgrading from our Vango Gamma 450 bought this year as a re-introduction to camping after years away. We've now got the bug but need something bigger. Not being able to stand straight doesn't help and lack of space all round.

Was camping last week and after a good look round the full site, and the many tents therein, we've decided the Outwell Colorado 5 or similar is the thing we are after, and after seeing them on sale for just £150 it makes us more interested!

After a quick read on here it seems there have been problems with leaks and some Outwells. Just wonder if any Colorado 5 and/or Outwell owners in general can give me advice on whether it's a good tent. There are 2 adults and 1, sometimes 2 children.

Otherwise, any other suggestions of similar size tents will be gratefully accepted!

many thanks

jane x

We bought a Colorado 5 in 2004 and have used it a lot!  (Over the summer we spend more time in the tent than our house - probably used for 4 full weeks and numerous 4 day weekends each year).  It has lived through strong winds and heavy rain.  There are only 2 of us so we have taken out the second bedroom to make a larger living area.  Hubby is 5' 9 and can stand up in it easily.  We have had condensation a couple of times despite having all of the vents open.  It's quick to put up (20-30 mins) and from the moment we saw it knew that it was the tent for us.  However, if we upgrade we will be looking at a SIG as it can get a little chilly in early May and late September.

Thanks for the advice Chris. We are still looking, still keen on the Outwell Colorado 5 but have also seen the Peakland Brookfield on the Yeomans website and are now debating between the two!

Can you let me know if the Outwell Colorado 5 has mudflaps on the living area as it hasn't got the SIG? The tent we currently have has no mudflaps with the fly ending a few inches above ground level and it's VERY drafty! Definitely want mudflaps this time round!

Thanks in advance

jane
