Hi - first post & apologies if this has been asked before...

I'm after a tent that has good protection from the elements/bugs etc. and has room to stand up in. I have narrowed my search down to the diablo 600 or hartford XL because of the SIG and their size. However, I am having some difficulty deciding which one? Both are a similar price in the current sales.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Either, as far as I can see the only difference will be a bigger bedroom pod if you get the 600XP, both tents are superb. We have the 900xp and its amazing, our friends have the hartford and they love it too and it looks a very good tent, well built.

Sorry to throw another tent in to consider. The Outwell Georgia L, similar design to the Diablo 600/Harford, but has bigger bedrooms(than the Harford...not sure about the Diablo)

Hi - thanks for the replies.

I went back to Go Outdoors and spent some time looking at the differences. I'm leaning towards the Hartford. £249 inc canopy seems good value too.

I did look at the Georgia L that you recommended and it looks a great tent but it is £100 more without extras.

Speaking of extras, has anyone bought a footprint and would you recommend one?

thanks

I am also on the brink of diving in! After a false start with a disappointing Coleman tunnel tent I am pretty set on a Hartford or Georgia. I brought a Hartford XL home but didn't take it out of the bag (long story) but lifting it did my shoulder in, still not right a week later! I am still probably going for it due to vfm, but the Georgia L or XL in the wheeled bag was appealing after lifting the Hartford XL.

Also thinking about the footprint. Have seen suggestions to just take a tarp first time and cut to fit, but the footprints are pretty cheap in the grand scheme of things and clearly made to measure. Also, at festivals, you very quickly lay claim to your space!

A couple of questions for owners:

- are the sleeping pods standing height as you go in, and do they slope away really quickly?
- how easily can two adults and a toddler fit into a pod?

Cheers, talitom

We have the Georgia XL and the footprint, which has been a godsend. It kept the sig immaculate, when we camped in horrific conditions this year. We were lucky, as ours came free, but worth the twenty odd quid if you buy it.

With regards to weight, on my hartford XXL I never pack the poles and pegs with the tent as this makes it far too heavy however I have a good checklist before I go to make sure I do not forget these.

No you cannot stand up in the pods as they slope almost immediatly and 2 people are the max that could fit in each one.

Also agree with the footprint groundsheet, well worth the money

yeah weve got a foot print for our hartford xxl and it great it kept our tent clean so it was easier to clean and dry out when we got bak home. so yes i would recommend getting one and the carpets are great too as we have a 3yr old and a 4yr old and they where able to play in the tent and keep warm too with is a bonus.

After considering the various sale prices and incentives, I decided to buy the Hartford XL Yoemans Outdoors. They are offering the tent, footprint and carpet for £240 and I thought that represented good value. Worth a look Talitom...

My delivery is scheduled for tomorrow pm so I'll attempt to pitch it in the garden this weekend, weather permitting!

Thanks for your replies, they have helped me make an informed decision...

Nice one, hope you have a big garden !

Have a look at the outwell website as it has a half decent video of pitching instructions or othewise use the seach option here as this has been discussed before.

Just back from picking mine up, a pretty good deal, Tent, Canopy, Carpet, Footprint, Wheeled bag, £322 from worldofcamping, also got a few more bits and pieces!! Will attempt pitching this afternoon, but I doubt it will fit in our garden :) May just chance it for this weekends camping but pack a spare tent just in case.
