Getting ready to camp as a newbie after a long time, and threw my lot in with the Nebraska XXL. Pretty chuffed for the low price we paid.
It's been a while since I was under canvas, so my question is- how do you peg it out nice and straight? Where the 3 poles go into the pins to form the main dome feels awfully tight, pulling up the bathtub ground sheet, and seems like there's too much stress on those corners. Have I got it right or wrong?
thanks newbie with 3 kids.

Hi and welcome to the site. Make sure all webbing straps are loose before you pitch. You will find that most tents will give a bit after they have been pitched a few times. Also have you got the footprint. I bought a tarp the exact size of my tent and found that it helped with maintaining the shape of the tent.
Thanks, yep, got the footprint, but not quite worked out how to get the tent exactly on top of it! Do you recommend pegging any of it down on top of the tarp as a guide before putting it up?
I dont actually peg my tent down until i have guyed out. I sit the tent poles at the edge of my pegged down tarp, guy out and then adjust the poles so they are spot on, peg down and then check the guys are taut again.

Thanks, that's making sense. I take it you find that things tend to be quite tight at the bottom where the poles go in? As I said, it feels tighter than I'd have thought- in all the brochures the black skirt is down to the ground, but I find mine up in the air becuase everything is so tight.
lovin' my new tent tho'!
Yep, the first time i pitched mine it was 5 inches off the ground at the front.....next time it was about 2-3.....it either gives or you just get better with practise.
