Hi,
We had the Vail 700 until last week.
Great tent all sewn in, no messing about with inner tents.
The living area is spot on and the large windows provide great light.
I would, under normal circumstances say go for the Vail, however as I said I had one until last week.
The reason is that I have now retunred the tent due to poor stitching, stress points leaking and the main living area ground sheet seem coming away.
When I took it back to the shop, armed with my camera and pictures, the guy said no need to show him pictures as they had 25% of the Vango's new 2007 models that they had sold, returned to them during the summer, and that we were the second that day.
It was alledged that production towards the end of the main run (made in China) was of poor quality due to the pressure of getting the order out in time.
I friend of mine has the Aspen and swears by it. He does say though that there is a definate knack in getting the tent up.
However if you can get a Vail that has no faults then I would suggest you go for it. the thing is you wont know until you use it.
At the end of the day I would say its a decision between inner tent first and flysheet first. You need to consider who and how many of you will be pitching the tent.
Dont let my experience put you off the Vail if thats the tent you prefer as its is a great tent - thats why we went for it. we just got one of the bad ones.
