Wished I'd looked at who checked my 2 leaky Monty 12 s and the other one where the stitching on a pole sleeve was coming away.

There was the same problem with leaky Outwells being reported on the boards last year, and no doubt it will be the same again next year. As Andy has said above, and I'm sure Gary at Cross Camping would say, this is due the volume being sold. I've been a 'victim' of 3 faulty Outwells, but am pleased to report that I'm now the proud owner of a non-leaky Vermont.

Interesting Jens has posted that Ouwell have recognised a production challenge! I wondered whether they'll only admit that to a fellow Dane!

Indeed.  When I visited Gary at Cross Camping last week, he told me that he only gets 1 in every 100 Outwells he sells returned.

Now that isn't bad (unless you are 'the one', of course).

I'm not interested in what excuses outwell come up with or any of the retailers, when you are paying £445 for a tent you expect it to be weather proof if the tent leaks they should refund or replace without any query. especially when i have paid £80 for a 2 man tent and used it in all weather conditions with out any problems

Im sorry but i never tried to make any excuses for anyone, im sorry if i came acrosse this way. i just tried to explain the situation from a retailers point of view, and as i said towards the end of my statement, if you have a leaking or manufacturing fault then take it back to the place of purchase for a replacement / refund or just to make the customer happy with a solution everyone is happy with. I have tried not to make excuse just to try to explain what we have seen as a retailer as a personal experiance.

Well I welcomed your clarification- it's good to know the numbers are small.

Our problem only manifested itself after quite a period of rain however and I'm sure there are others out there who have the same problem but don't realise it.

Our retailer's view is that it has to go back to Outwell for an opinion, which will take two weeks, so we are stuck in limbo at the moment.  This is the first weekend we've had at home in about six weeks.
