  Hi

 ive just bought a vango aspen dlx 700  (2007)

 as anyone got any tips on putting it up? (apart from watching the dvd 500 times)

we have the aspen 700dlx, had been erecting it as per the written instructions sewn in to the bag and it generally took us around 45 minutes to put up, watched the video on vango's website which shows you to pitch the tent as if it were a tunnel tent and it makes such a difference down to about 25-30mins now...

Basically after putting down our footprint groundsheet we laid out and positioned the inner and pegged it down at the two rear corners, then slid through the roof poles that run from side to side of the tent (2x green and 1x yellow)  then attached the legs, then starting from the legs nearest the back of the tent inserted the ring pin on one side, then my husband inserted the ring pin on the opposite leg whilst I eased the fabric along the roof pole...contined for the other 2 legs, once all pinned in, with one of us each side we lifted the three legs together then basically just walked the tent forward, it makes it easier if the doors are open on the inner tent as this allows the air to flow into the tent instead of trying to lift a sealed tent up against any breeze, pull the tent out straight and taut as we pull it forward, then peg it down at the front legs, went inside the tent at this point to check floor square and no folds anywhere.  Insert the flexi roof pole that runs from the back to front of the tent, then slid the 2 red roof poles through from the back, very carefully incase you tear or snag the sleeves, OH pushed the poles through whilst I held the sleeve up straight & high at the front of the tent in order that the pole slipped through straight, then attach front & back legs, attach all the hooks to the poles and adjust where necessary.  For the fly sheet, we open it right up and lay the rear edge of the flysheet at the front opening of the inner tent, we put both the porch flexi poles through first and locate the first pole (nearest the inner) on the ringpin before we pull the flysheet over....to pull the flysheet over we both get hold of a rear corner and pull the sheet up over the front of the inner, we then just slide it over, to stop it from hitching up anywhere we just pull it from side to side (like a sawing action) as we walk it back over the tent...then you just have to place the other porch flexi pole on it's pins, then start pegging and guying...to be honest we don't bother attaching many of the ties on the inside of the flysheet, we just tie one or two to a couple of side poles to make sure the flysheet stays in the correct place whilst pegging out.
