Hi, dirty little b*****ds aren't they!!....If camped by trees I usually check over my tent on a daily basis and remove any of their calling cards straight away, just use a piece of wet kitchen towel to wipe it away, however I think an ostrich left me a present on one occasion and I hadn't spotted it before it dried out, so just got a bottle of water and ran water over it until it softened and most of it washed away just leaving a small residue that I needed to wipe away, again with a damp cloth, the tent dried up okay and because I only used water the proofing wasn't affected, but I have my trusty can of fabsil just in case....unfortunately the mess did leave a very faint mark on the flysheet...sod's law the bird should choose to poop on the lighter part of the tent..if it had been on the darker fabric it wouldn't be seen at all, OH couldn't see the mark I think it's just cos I know where it was! perhaps it will fade away completely if we get to use the tent in any bright sunshine!..

Lots of clean water, let it soak well. Any chemical that removes the bird mess is almost certain to destroy the waterproofing.  In any case I would give that area a spray with Fabsil afterwards.
