hi there

as campers with bad backs we are finding air beds a little too painful now and have invested in camp beds which are really comfortable. does anyone know of a tent with headroom and the length to use campbeds in the bedroom compartments. we have a vango vis a vis tent at the moment but the campbeds sometimes stick out the end! we don't want a frame tent as we like a tent that isn't too heavy and easy to put up!

we have 2 argos campbeds and a double mattress for the kids - all fits nice and neat into the sleeping area of the Outwell Montana 6

Have you tried using the self inflating sleeping mats - I have a dodgy back and find them brilliant

obviously they are at ground level so if getting down there is an issue for you then go with the camp bed idea....

We often use 'X leg' camp beds with 'Airic' self inflating mattresses on top (particularly in the cooler months). It's a really warm & comfortable combination and two beds easily fit into the sleeping pod of the "Khyam XL Classic" tent. The raised beds allow for plenty of storage space beneath for clothes, toiletries, cameras etc... The tent is simplicity itself to pitch singlehanded and can be done easily in forty minutes or so...

hi there,

thanks, i will take a look at the outwell tent you suggested.

also i havn't tried the self inflating sleeping mats, only the air beds which i find always deflate during the night after taking all evening to inflate! but yes getting up and down is a bit of an issue nowadays i'm afraid, also with camp beds you can sit on them to do things instead of crawling about on the floor which is very handy!

I love camp beds too.

I'd go for a tunnel tent design, (like mine) as the bed pods are as tall as the rest of the tent. Mine is a Rage Alta 6, and suits me nicely.

thanks andy pandy and tony,

will definitely look at the tents you recomend. has the bed pods in the tunnel tent got enough length in them to have the campbeds lengthwise so you don't have to clamber over one to get to the other?

as for the campbeds recomended i have seen those ones and wondered if they were comfy. the ones we like are the ones they sell in places like argos where they fold up instead of concertina, and we find them extremely comfy and your feet don't hang over the end!
