The wife & I recently paid a deposit to secure a Nebraska XXL. It was on offer at a really low price from Yeomans - £329.99 I think. I then found this very useful site & reading about all the leaking Outwell tents I am wondering whether we made a big mistake. Surely there must be some good ones out there or is this just a very bad year to get an Outwell! The problem is, do we ask for our deposit back or take a chance & hope we don't end up with a leaker. I don't fancy having to erect the thing & then hose it down just to see whether it's faulty or not. We really loved this tent and had set our hearts on it but now I am very undecided!.

hi keith and welcome to this site . for the record iv had two good outwells this year. a nebraska xl and a montana 6.Yeomans customer service are very good so you shoudnt have a problem with them.i would have a word with them first to see how the land lies as such. There have been other brands of leaky tents as well as th outwells. if you like th design have you looked at the royal pescara 8 ?same lay out i think as the nebraska .or have a search for it on here
Many thanks for your reply. As we've paid our deposit I think we'll risk the Outwell + go with it but I'll make sure when I collect it that should there be a problem I will be able to get it resolved without any fuss & bother! After all £300+ is a lot of money isn't it?
We've also got the Nebraska XXL we've been away five times this year from March, the Nebraska has coped with torrential rain, hail stones(in May), gale force winds and finally in August SUNSHINE!!! We've not had any problems with it at all and like you we fell in love with it back in March. After placing an order I then started reading all the threads on here about leaking outwells. But I took the risk and I'm glad I did. The only down side for us is we feel it's a bit big for a two night stay somewhere so are now looking for a weekend tent.
Hope your happy with the Nebraska when it arrives
Penny

Hi Keith,
We have the Nebraska XL - big enough!!!! we've only had one instance of it leaking & that was in a torrential downpour. I'd have been more surprised if it hadn't leaked!
They're a fantastic tent, we're a family of four but we wanted the extra space for rainy days etc... (2 small kids) - the space inside is fantastic & it's solid in bad weather. We love ours - go for it!
Well, after reading your positive replies we went & did it! We picked our new Nebraska up yesterday afternoon, I made a point of mentioning to the guy at Yeomans the fact that some people had had trouble. He was aware of this but assured us that if we had any problems we could take it back. We also got a free footprint which will keep the bottom of our tent nice & clean. Shame we didn't get the carpet but they'd run out!
It's presently sitting on the floor in our bedroom, can't wait to have a trial run in the in-laws garden, hope it stays nice for a few more days! How long does it take to put up, once you know what you're doing?
Next question, how the heck do you dry the thing after it gets wet??? We thinking of going to Kelling Heath in Norfolk in half-term but I'm a bit concerned that the weather might be just a bit too inclement, any views?
good luck, good tent but mine leaked,if u get the chance on its first erection use some seam sealer(provided) on all the stress points, corners etc.takes about an hour to put up with 2,i have managed on my own but i think i was just lucky.I dry mine on the ground takes about half an hour in good sun.
