SIG gave us peace-of-mind when we bought ours. It stops our 3y/o boy escaping.

But when we were younger, we had a frame tent without. I did seam more like camping back then, a tent full of flys, wind whistling under the flaps, a dog that thought all grass was a toilet, beit inside or out.

i like SIGS, i loved being able to close my front door in Hartford and leave all the bed room doors open at night as i dont like being enclosed in a small space. I also found the heat stayed in it better. if it was warm during the day we opened front and back door and let the breeze travel thro.

I wouldnt let not having a SIG stop me buying a tent i liked tho.

I made the decision to get a tent with a SIG/ZIG after camping at the British Superbike races at Cadwell Park last year, i woke on the sunday morning and stepped out of my bedroom pod into the small stream that has started running through my tent off the slope we had to camp on.  It was quite a wake up call I can tell ya.

I was luckier than some though, the ones at the bottom of the slope awoke to being in the middle of the rather large puddle that was starting to form.

The tent was a Sunncamp Vario 6 for those that wondered, worst tent I ever owned (gave it to my sister..lol).

With regards to the clean up of a tent with a SIG I use a £3 B&Q tarp that I use as a footprint underneath my tent so the bottom of my groundsheet doesnt get dirty.

Eco-mat for us. We put it down in the UK, but in France we go commando.
