Hi All

We are looking to buy a Montana 6 to replace our Diablo 600 which has proven to be a great tent, however we got caught out in an awful down pour which would have been a problem if we had not had hookup to dry the inner out.

I understand that the Montana is a outer first erection but wonder is there any negatives with this tent ?.

We replaced our dome tent with a Montana 6 for the same reason.  We've used it once and found it much easier and quicker to put up.  I'd already read lots of comments about this type of tent leaking but after a downpour we only had a bit of water in the side porch which we think was down to us not quite putting it up properly.  It's worth reading the threads on here about how to get it back in the bag - not for the faint hearted!  We love the tent though and we're really glad we bought it!

Most of the leak problems with the Montana seem to be the 2006 model although there are a few for the 2007 one as well. I think you have to put this in persepctive in that they probably sell thousands of Montanas and you will generally only hear about the leaking ones. I have a 2006 model which had a few minor leaks at the seams at the bottom of the bedroom pods where they attach to the fly. My view was that I was prepared to apply seam sealer and see how it went. The tent is now dry and I have had no further problems. The Monty6 is a great tent, good living space and full head height throughout. I bought it to replace a Diablo 900 which is a good tent but it suffered from bedroom sag and I was fed up with having to crawl into the bedroom pods. I would give my Monty6  8 out of 10 although it is a bit tight if you intend to sleep 6 in it as the pods are really only big enough for three people using ground mats not airbeds. I am also considering the new Vango Breckenridge as it has three bedroom pods of generous size that really will accomodate 6 people. However there  are also a number of posts about problems with this tent as well.
